Movement Workshops
Photography by Boy Howdy Co.
Collective Reflection workshops offer improvisation-based dance 'classes' to help you find empowerment and new perspectives through movement.
Each session starts with a guided warm-up - incorporating elements of meditation, Gyrokinesis, Feldenkrais (Awareness Through Movement), and modern/contemporary dance. After bringing awareness to our mental focus and physical alignment, participants receive prompts to explore various elements of movement (time, weight, momentum, direction, and more) individually, and as a group. Each session concludes with a wind-down meditation and time for journaling or reflective conversation.
This space is sometimes silly, sometimes serious, and always trying something new. Workshops are open to all experience levels- whether you have never taken a dance class or are a full-time performing artist, you are welcome here! Please reach out through the contact form with any questions or accommodation requests.

Choreo Lab
Conceived by Lauren Kravitz with considerable support from Rai Barnard
Choreo Lab is an experiment in short-term, low-stakes creative processes that mutually benefit dancers and dancemakers. Led by a new choreographer each session, we create instant ensembles, giving the choreographer an opportunity to test out creative ideas on bodies other than their own and dancers the opportunity to meet collaborators, learn new movement styles, and be in a process-oriented environment. Dancemakers might ask participants to create their own material, play with spacing/facing, and engage with other compositional elements.
Each session will start with a 15-30 min warm up depending on the needs of the process. Before each session participants will receive more details about what to expect including notes on apparel and other elements that might be involved like writing, speaking, and/or physical contact. A sliding scale of $5-15/person for each session will help cover the cost of studio space and admin.
Apply to Lead a Choreo Lab
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed periodically when planning future sessions.
Choreo Lab runs monthly throughout the year (with breaks in April, August, and December) and features a new dancemaker each month. Each maker guides two 3-hour sessions in a given month.
Sessions are generally held on weekends at Arts Mission Oak Cliff (410 S. Windomere Ave, Dallas, TX 75208) or other arts venues within Dallas proper (ex. Oak Cliff Cultural Center, Sammons Center for the Arts).
